10 Craft Ideas To Do With Pumpkin Templates
Pumpkins are a highly popular craft item. Try these great templates to make the following crafts.
1. Party Game Pumpkin
If you’re having an Autumn party where you’ll be drawing names from a hat, why not draw them out of a pumpkin?
To make this paper container, print two large jack-o’-lantern templates.
Leave a little extra paper at the base when cutting them out, and fold the edges of each one around a strip of cardboard to create a bottom.
Lightly wind orange yarn around the sides to create “walls,” and add a piece of twine for a handle. You now have a place to collect names for a drawing or a game!
2. Paper Mosaic Pumpkin
This fun craft is easy, and you should start with a large, simple pumpkin template.
Create a mosaic pumpkin by tearing up pieces of orange and black construction paper in an irregular pattern.
Using plain, white glue, glue these to the pumpkin until none of the white paper shows.
Color the pumpkin stem bright green, embellish it with green glitter, and tape it on a piece of green curling ribbon to make this craft extra fancy.
3. Fun With Pumpkin Seeds
For this terrific classroom activity, print out some sheets of small, ordinary orange pumpkins.
Give each child one or more than one, depending on how long you want the activity to last.
Give all the youngsters a handful of pumpkin seeds, a black magic marker, and some invisible glue.
Have them write a number on one side of the pumpkin and glue on seeds in the corresponding number for a fun learning activity–as well as keepsakes that they can save.
4. Spinning Pumpkin Yarn
For this easy craft, choose a simple pumpkin and have the youngsters use the template to trace the shape to a piece of cardboard.
The cardboard should then be cut out, and the stem should be colored green or brown.
A knot should be tied at the end of a long piece of orange yarn, and a small slit cut at the pumpkin’s top to “anchor” it.
The yarn can then be twined in a back-and-forth pattern around the pumpkin cutout until it’s completely covered for a fun piece of string art.
5. Decorate a Real Pumpkin
Small or medium-sized fancy pumpkin templates can be used to decorate a real pumpkin for a great work of art!
Once the templates are printed, and the pumpkins cut out, invisible glue should be used to glue them around the pumpkin’s circumference.
The spaces in between can be decorated with pom-poms, buttons, craft gems, or anything at all to make the pumpkin fancy.
Finish up with a bright green ribbon at the top, and you have a great decorative pumpkin.
6. Make a Pumpkin Totem Pole
To make this fun creation, print out four or five jack-o’-lantern, pumpkin, and butternut pumpkin templates.
Using craft glue or wood glue, glue them onto a long craft stick totem pole style.
Finally, print and cut out a jack-o’-lantern pumpkin tower template and place this one at the very top.
Use this original “totem pole” as an autumn garden decoration, place it in a flower arrangement, or even stick it in its own foam base for a Halloween ornament.
7. Earth Day Pumpkin
You don’t have to have an entire compost pile to make an Earth Day pumpkin.
Simply print two white pumpkin or jack-o’-lantern templates and decorate them with actual pumpkin seeds dyed or painted in bright colors.
Next, use a real pumpkin and embellish it with all types of recycled tidbits, such as old buttons, shredded candy wrappers, and even the lids of empty pill containers as funny eyes.
Add a pumpkin cutout to each side of the real pumpkin, and you have a terrific fall ornament.
8. Make a Unique Trick-or-Treat Bag
If you’re looking for a simple, easy thing to do with pumpkin templates, why not decorate a trick-or-treat bag?
Plain white or black bags work best for this, but any type will do.
Print two large jack-o’-lantern templates, one for each side of the bag, and glue them on with invisible glue.
Then, print some small, white pumpkin templates and color them in crazy patterns and shades. Glue them around the main jack-o’-lantern cutout for a unique and original bag!
9. A Fun Sign
If you or your child are animal lovers and you want to make some fun artwork, print a butternut pumpkin template and turn it into a funny animal.
For instance, you can add giant wiggle eyes, a big black pom-pom for a nose, and use brown felt to make big droopy ears and turn it into a hound dog.
Write a name underneath for a door sign, or add a funny saying such as, “Quiet, Pets are Sleeping,” with colorful puffy paint. Add green yarn to hang it up and enjoy.
10. Multicolored Pumpkin Art
This fun craft is a terrific classroom activity and begins with printing out a large pumpkin template with three sections.
Using shredded tissue paper, make each section a different color, such as a gold, yellow, and orange pattern, or three different shades of green.
Add three green pom-poms stacked on top of each other for a stem, and staple a long, curling ribbon to the top for fantastic 3D art.
